Which restaurants for dinner in cortona

Marshall's Recommendation

Cortona is one of those Tuscan hill towns that punishes lazy restaurant choices, it's small enough that you'll end up eating the same place twice if you're not deliberate about it. The good news is the town punches well above its size, and a few spots are genuinely worth planning around.

Osteria del Teatro is the place to anchor your visit. It's been the standard-bearer in Cortona for years, and it earns that reputation every time. The pastas are exceptional, the menu leans into Chianina beef and local truffles when they're in season, and the room has the kind of worn, candlelit warmth that makes a two-hour dinner feel like the obvious way to spend an evening. Book ahead, it fills up, especially in summer.

La Bucaccia is the other essential. It's more rustic and less polished than Osteria del Teatro, which is exactly the point. The cooking is deeply Tuscan, the portions are serious, and the wine list is built around the region. If you want to feel like you've stumbled onto something rather than been directed to it, this is your dinner.

For something lighter or a longer lunch that bleeds into the afternoon, Pane e Vino does well with an enoteca format, good local wines, cured meats, simple composed plates. It's not destination dining, but it's a lovely way to spend a couple of hours in the middle of the day without committing to a full meal. And if you have a car and are willing to drive a few kilometers outside the walls, the farms and agriturismi around Cortona often do dinners that are extraordinarily good for the price, ask whoever you're staying with, because the best ones travel by word of mouth rather than TripAdvisor.

Avenida principal 3 Troncones, 40807 Playa Majahua, Gro., Mexico
Super simple menu (5 options) but all fresh and prepared on the spot. We had two kinds of shrimp and both were fantastic. If you’re looking for a delicious, simple, and affordable dinner in Majahua… this is the spot
Bahía Manzanillo, 40807 Troncones, Gro., Mexico
Came for dinner & really enjoyed the meal. Was told the cheeseburger was the best around and was not disappointed. As with most places in Majahua, it’s quite slow, but everything we tried was really good. The hotel itself is smack in the middle of Manzanillo Bay with beautiful sunset views. Seemed like a great place to stay
